137 Days of Sketching, Day 4
137 Days of Sketching, Day 4, Holly. It should be something like day 8 or so but things have happened! We had the 4th of July! (there is a sketch for July 4th, just need to get it posted!) Then on the 6th of July, I went to Idaho to visit with my 91-year-old Dad! It seems like sketching can take a back seat to some things, and it felt quite appropriate to leave sketching until I came home. Last night I was road kill, so tired from traveling.
So today we resume, and I will catch up with sketching!!!!!
I’m really enjoying sketching even though I am just beginning and I really want to learn more! I found out about a book, “Art Starts with a Line” by Erin McManness. Erin is the amazing talent behind Paper Ravin Co. and I thought why not see if I can learn a bit from someone who lives this life of sketching, drawing etc. The book is a workbook and from the bit of time that I have taken to look at it today, I think I came across a keeper!!!!!
I would love to show you what I learn as I work through this book. I will be applying some of the lessons to my sketches. (Please also note, there are no paid endorsements in this post!!! The book can be purchased through Amazon-again I do not profit at all if you purchase the book from Amazon. And… copyright laws will be respected. If I show you something that I am doing that I learned from the book, I will acknowledge it, but I won’t share the photos, the instructions etc that are in the book.)
Holly, Day 4
Now onto today’s sketch! Day 4, Holly
This little sketch is primitive, it could use a redo but to keep things real I’m sharing the sketch as it is. There is one nice thing about drawing plant things like Holly, it does not have to be perfect. It is a plant! Oh happy day let’s drop perfectionism!!!
Coming in the days ahead there will be a flag, maybe more nautical stuff, perfectly imperfect plants, and maybe even some shoes!
Talk to you tomorrow,
Jan
