Beads, this is a simple block using Four Patches and Half Square Triangles and the design can easily be changed by fabric and color placement.
Finished Size 10″
1/4″ seam allowance used unless instructed to do something different 🙂
Supplies for block shown
4 Fabrics, (extra has been allowed for trimming!)
Fabric 1 4″x14″
Fabric 2 4″x 8″
Fabric 3 7″x12″
Fabric 4 7″x7″
Cutting:
Four Patches:
Fabric 1 2-3″ squares
Fabric 2 2-3″ squares
Fabric 3 4-3″ squares
Half Square Triangles with Flippy Corner:
Fabric 1 2-3″ squares
Fabric 3 1-5 7/8″ square
Fabric 4 1-5 7/8″ square (solid gray in example below)
Piecing:
Four Patches:
Layout and sew as illustrated using a 1/4″ seam allowance
Press towards the dark fabric
Half Square Triangles with Flippy Corner:
Make 2 half squares triangles.
Place the Fabric 3 and Fabric 4 5 7/8″ square rights sides together, draw a line diagonally, from corner to corner. Sew 1/4″ on both sides of the drawn line. Cut on the drawn line. (Example of making half square triangles.)
You will have 2 half square triangles
Adding the Flippy Corner: Using Fabric 1, draw a line diagonally from corner to corner on the 2-3″ squares. Place Fabric 1 square on Fabric 3 section of the half square triangle
Trim away the excess, press. Make 2 of these:
Sew the block together, sewing a Four Patch to the Half Square Triangle to make the block.
